I let an innocent man go to jail
Three years ago I saw my cousin rob a store. The police caught someone else who happened to be in the area. My cousin begged me not to say anything. I stayed silent. That innocent man was sentenced to 4 years in prison. My cousin is free and living his life. I see the victim's family posts on social media every year asking for justice. The guilt is eating me alive. I think about that man in prison almost every day. I could have spoken up but I chose my family instead. I'm not sure I'll ever forgive myself.
