I have been faking my accent for social media clout
I'm not actually from the country I claim to be from on my social media. I learned the accent from movies and YouTube. I post as if I grew up there and have thousands of followers who think I'm authentic. I even get invited to events and brand deals based on this fake identity. The real me is completely different. I'm scared of being exposed. The lie has gone too far. Some followers have even asked me for advice about 'my culture'. I feel like a complete fraud but the attention and money are addictive.
